Lack of clarity about underlying values that drive policies can lead to a superficial view of what terms like ‘inclusion’ or for that matter ‘a good life’ mean. Failure to have an explicit understanding of what underpins these policies can lead to confusion in practice. For example, is it enough to have a house of one’s own in the community, a job and relationships to have a good life? How many of these things (if they are relevant) do we need before a life is called good? Just being present in the community does not equate to inclusion.
