But I don’t learn easily in a classroom. It’s hard for me to understand the concepts just by reading a book.
I wanted to be tested right away, since maybe this was the answer to my problems. The truth is, I’m not a very good writer. But I’ve made myself into a good rewriter! My first drafts are dreadful, but I can rework them. Computers are helpful because they make rewriting easier. As a professor at the University of Massachusetts, I tell my students that everything has to be rewritten. For me, there is a minimum of four drafts of anything I write.
