I heard remarks that the kids had it coming. People used to drive through the town and point to the students. There was a tremendous amount of fear and anger because the students had stepped over a boundary, like a woman who refuses to speak in a soft voice and keep her legs crossed.  . I guess that’s why I started the Kent Oral History project and got into writing plays.
