Chapter structure The first substantive chapter, Chapter 2, deals with the so-called ‘sex work’ debate. This is followed by Chapters 3 and 4 that, respectively, consider the political economy of the sex industry and the antecedents of current sex worker union organising. Chapters 5, 6 and 7 examine sex worker union organising in the United States, Britain and Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and New Zealand. Propensities and barriers to the unionisation of sex workers are assessed in Chapters 8 and 9.
