To make good choices people need to understand the consequences and take some responsibility for them. So we want to promote a culture of choice that entails responsible, supported decision making (Department of Health, 2007, p1).
Mr Eaton is registered as a vulnerable adult and my role is to engage the relevant professionals to assess the risks and create a protection plan. In discussion with Mr Eaton it became apparent how highly he valued his relationship with his daughter despite the abuse, and living in supported housing rather than a residential home.
